Our Colts Section is now well established and was started after we invited the Broadstone Middle School for a “taster” session at our Club.   The 1 hour sessions are for year 8 pupils, who come to the club during a PE class, and during a one week period in May, we have 5 sessions of approximately 30 pupils and teachers in each class. These “taster” sessions have continued to run each year and have proved to be very popular with the children.

As a result of the very first year of running the “taster” sessions we started the Colts Section.   This is run on Saturday mornings during the outdoor season from 10am – 12noon by our Coaches and volunteers. A number of our Colts have gone on to play for League teams in both the Ladies and Men’s Sections.   Their ages range from 10 to 16 years but we do not turn anyone away providing they can hold a bowl.

Season 2011
Two of our Colts were selected to play for the senior teams in the B&D leagues.   Josh PERREN established himself in the 1st team helping them to win the 2nd Division and Tom POORE played for the 2nd team and retained his place with some impressive performances.
This season the Colt Section welcomed Ernie KEENE to assist John FRIBERG with running the Colts and he has now gained his coaching qualifications.
